Winter garden

It's easy to ignore the garden during the dormant season, when life is more indoors and there's not the constant requirement to contain rampant growth.

Winter's beauty is quiet and undemanding - leaves turn crimson, garden beds drink in the plentiful rain and buds plump up in anticipation of warm Spring sun.

Winter beach life

This morning was fresh and mild at the beach, a nice change from the chilling rain of the last few mornings.

Winter beach enthusiasts were out enjoying the better conditions.

Solstices

Last week I was in London, Glasgow, Paris and Madrid.  The evenings were long and balmy in the approach to the summer solstice.  This was the view from my hotel room in Glasgow at 10.45pm...

The solstices foretell of the impending change of seasons.  I always welcome the winter solstice in the knowledge that summer is nearer with every day.
